Hello & welcome

I am Martyna Zoltaszek, a UK based artist. I work from a lovely shared studio in central Bristol.

I have been blessed with incredible illustration commissions alongside my painting practice.

You will find me easy to work with, versatile and always up for a challenge.

Amongst other lovely clients, for many years now I have been collaborating with DJECO Paris. I value their returning custom beyond words. With their the incredible art direction, and variety of how illustration is incorporated into the final product, I learn something new on each job.

I also had a thrilling opportunity to illustrate a limited edition packaging for Nina Ricci iconic perfume. It was incredible to see these come to life and pop up on shelves in drogeries and airport lounges.

My favourite aspect of illustrating is working with others, which I find leads to growth. Further more, the effect of synergy means that the end product is usually way beyond what I could create myself.

  • Techniques used:

Some of my illustrations are created using paint, some entirely digitally and some are a blend of the two.

When working digitally, I use Procreate app with apple pencil on Apple Ipad. If I make illustration using paint, it’s Holbein Acryla Gouche or Golden Acrylic paint.

  • Training:

I studied painting and graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland. I also won a scholarship at the Art Department of the university of Tennessee in Knoxville. I feel like the university laid good foundation for self discipline, collaborative approach, concept creating and learning to solve visual problems regarding composition, colour, media, etc. When it comes to my illustration practice, there’s a lot I have learnt from each commission.

Show up, do everything you take on to your best ability, be kind & don’t dwell on things that don’t go well.

  • Dream job:

I always have absolutely dreamt of designing a Hermes scarf.
