SHAUN IN THE JUNGLE – AARDMAN ANIMATIONS & THE GRAND APPEAL 2015

SHAUN IN THE JUNGLE – AARDMAN ANIMATIONS & THE GRAND APPEAL 2015

This was an incredibly rewarding commission to paint a blank cast of the iconic Aardman’s character – Shaun the Sheep.

The figurine was displayed at the ‘Shaun in the City’ trail waving throughout streets and sites of London & Bristol, alongside other Shauns, designed by artists and household names from the worlds of film, art, animation and fashion.

The organizers picked a perfect home for the Shaun in The Jungle – in the lush greenery of the University of Bristol Botanic Gardens.

All Shaun in the City sculptures went under the hammer in an auction hosted by Sotheby’s auctioneer, Tim Wonnacott. All proceedings from the sales (which amounted to a whooping £1090000) went to support children’s hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.

On a more personal note – I really enjoyed working on this project, met many amazing artists who became good friends and it felt good to do work for a robustly led project with a great cause.

Completing the Shaun in the jungle took 30 days, 60 cups of coffee and 30 doughnuts!

Big thanks to the lovely staff at the Botanic Gardens and The Dunkley’s who kindly sponsored my sheep.
